Aina's hantaran cakes

So what have I been up to lately, not so much christmas baking cause am taking a break during the christmas holidays to spend time with the family. But before that, have been busy fulfilling a couple of orders and one of it is a request for 2 hantaran cakes with a lilac and white theme for the boy's side and pink for the girl's side. The bride wanted something different, something that was whimsical. She did add a flower on top of the pink cake.

Birthday cake....less sweet please!

A request for a 1 year old's birthday cake without icing. I tried to jazz it up as much as possible, think it looks pretty decent.

Alif's 1st

Little Alif's first birthday celebration was filled with his favourite animals, cats, ducks and monkeys. Too cute!

Thomas and friends

This turned out to be pretty painstaking but at the same time therepeutic. It is amazing at how something that looks simple enough if you use colour pencils can be so difficult when you work with royal icing. Hope the little birthday boy liked them.

Cookie idea

I know I know this is a badly taken picture of the cookie but I was in a big rush and did not have time to play with lighting etc so this would just have to do until I make them again. For a kindergarten farewell gift to the teacher. So sweet.

Cupcake Queen : Lilac and white

Cupcake queen for a hantaran and with matching cupcakes. These were beautiful!

Gavin's 6th Birthday

Funfilled birthday bash was planned for Gavin. I was given the honour of baking for the 2nd time, his birthday cake. A little kungfu hero cake, superhero cupcakes and loads of sugar cookies!

For a change....

The delay in updating this blog was because I had the priviledge of visiting Taipei for work. A busy busy city. So for a change and moving away from baked goods for a while, some amateur shots of the places I visited.

Lemon Meringue Pie

A hit with my female colleagues. Went for a class to learn how to make proper lemon meringue pie, this turned out beautiful. Will definitely make this again.

Eva's Full Moon

A cute little bub's full moon. The cupcakes were done according to the theme of the nursery. I was told that the nursery items were only available in the states or was it UK. Anyway, they were whimsical and unconventional. Love the ideas!

Ice Cream Cookies

I had acquired a new ice cream cone cookie cutter. Also had some additional sugar cookie dough and icing. So decided to play around with it. Oh so cute!

Spongebob Squarepants

Gosh! was this hard to do. I was always under the impression that spongebob would be one of the easiest characters to make but no no no no. Especially when it is so small to fit medium cupcakes. I can say that I am pretty happy with how they turned out but of course can be improved with time.

Wedding cupcakes - peach and white

I made this last night and was planning on taking loads of pictures from different angles ( because I think they are so sweet!) but plans were foiled when my camera battery died on me and as I was rushing, could not find my charger. The white sugarpaste is imprinted with filigree like patterns but did not catch it with my dead camera.Argh!!! hopefully I would be able to get more pictures from the bride herself.

Graduation Cookies

A move away from the traditional black, I was asked to make cheery coloured mortar board for a graduation function. All fun!

Ribbons and Bows

Finally embarked on making some sugarpaste bows for birthday cakes. was initially going to do the loopy ones but decided that these bows are way more whimsical. Although not entirely perfect, was very happy with the whimsy it brings to normal cakes.

Birthday Cake for Grandma

A request for a pastel-ly coloured cake for grandma's birthday. Simple and so laura ashley!

Deepavali

Deepavali was a few days of baking frenzy. I made quite a number of loaf cakes during that period.... did not have the time to post them. Hope all had a good time on Saturday, many people around my neighbourhood certainly did with fireworks going off till the wee hours of the morning. was not complaining in fact, kinda enjoyed it.
