Gingerbreadmen with songket

So another idea that Nadia had for another of her hantaran dulangs was gingerbread men since it is the Christmas season and her now hubby loves gingerbread from what I was told. To give it a localised feel to this, gingerbread men with songket. I absolutely love this. They are very unique I must say.

Nadia's Rustic Genoise

If I may say so myself, this was the brilliant idea of my friend who recently got married, no sugarpaste, formal stuff for the hantaran but a more rustic, yummylicious multilayerd victoria sponge for her wedding hantaran. This was initially meant to be topped with strawberries but it is cherry season and I called her the other day asking whether she'd be open to having "white" cherries on the top to give it that richness. She agreed and here it is! beautiful beautiful. Heard it was a hit with the boy's family. Congratulations Nadia and Putra!

Merry Christmas 2010

One more wedding request to go and it is the end of the baking year for me. A few weeks of not entering into the kitchen, chilling before the start of the new year begins. Merry christmas to all and a happy new year!

Whimsical birthday cake

I was given a free hand on the design of this cake. I toiled over a couple of designs as I find sometimes it is not so easy to decorate a cake for a "Father, daughter, aunty etc.... a few people at the same time". I like.

Confessions of a shopaholic

Birthday cake for a bunch of shopaholics. I really enjoyed making this cake, hope the birthday girls like it too!

Pink and Gold

Pink and gold cupcakes for a 60th birthday party at Hilton. The lighting was a little tricky for my sad camera to capture so I do apologise for uploading the same pictures in different "light".

Bridal Shower

I had a request for a naughty and nice bridal shower cake. This was fun to make, but reckon the girl could have been sexier. The cake was dusted with sparkle my basic camera was not able to capture. Well hopefully the bride and her friends had a fun filled party.

Barbie and Cupcakes

Barbie from the 3 musketeers and princess themed cupcakes. I tried to follow the pink musketeer barbie as much as possible but of, you can only do so much with buttercream. I like the whole look though. Heard the kiddies at the party had a blast!

Deepavali 2010

I had some baking to do this Deepavali for some close friends. Am always touched when some of my old friends call me up, place an order on stuff that they have not even tried before. Anyways glad they liked it. This is a birthday cake with a kolam design on top. Wished I could have done some shading on the design but until and unless I get myself an airbrush....will have to make do.

Flower Power

A friend had ordered a birthday cake for his 10 year old daughter. She had very specific instructions, flower shaped cake made out of vanilla sponge, layered with strawberry jam and topped with buttercream. Oh yah, pink petals a must! Seems simple enough but I have not done this before, simple as it may be. I did go to ICCA to check out the flower shaped cake pan but decided I can carve the shape out myself. Anyways, they liked it and I liked it.

Arsenal Themed Party

Cakes for an arsenal themed party. This was interesting to make and I wanted to do cuppies that were football themed but not the usual stuff. I thought these were really cute.

Baby toffee choc chip shortbread

Baked cookies for the office over the weekend. This is a fantastic cookie recipe. I manage to find really good imported toffee for these, expensive but so worth it! Pure butter shortbread studded with crystalised crunchy toffee and chocolate chips.

Bon Voyage

An aeroplane and clouds. A banana walnut cake for a birthday cum farewell party. I love its simplicity.

Blondies

These I must say were perfect. They were like chocolate chip cookie in a chewy cake form. Blondies are always found in books on brownies. They are literally the blond version of the brownie. Definitely a keeper.

Milano Marble Cake

Moist marble cake with a milano cookie crumb and a hint of mint. This was nice but can be improved still. A unique crunch when you bite into the chocolate vanilla flavoured cake and a little burst of mint make an appearance for those with a discerning palate. Nice. pictures were taken after the cake was butchered, please excuse the crumbs.

Little Miss Sunshine

I had previously made a Little Miss cake and this time round, a request for little miss sunshine cupcakes. was a little scared to make them initially but managed to come up with some solutions to get these mini sugar little miss sunshines onto the cucpakes. They were a lot of fun to make.

Cheshire Cat

A tall order I thought initially. I knew this was going to take awhile to make for the simple reason, I don't own a cookie cutter in the shape of the cheshire cat! Was thinking for days what shaped cutters would be closest to this face but in the end decided I had no other choice but to cut the cookie dough out one by one using a knife. Time consuming but was worth it! heard they were a hit at the Alice in Wonderland themed party.

Little Drummer Boy

Birthday cake for a little boy's 1st birthday. A unique themed party I must say, drums. Well the cake I made was in a shape of a drum. Hope he liked it.

Baby Shower

Some cute cookies and cupcakes for a friend's baby shower. The cookies I have made before but I had some trouble packing them this time cause they spread slightly while baking, making them bigger than usual. Could not fit them into the usual plastic bags, tried stuffing them into individual boxes but they did not look so nice. In the end settled for wrapping them in good quality cling firm and love love love the way they look!.

Selamat Hari Raya

all lined up ready for delivery

Selamat Hari Raya to all my Muslim friends. A good time of celebration, family, feasting.... for the rest of us smooth traffic! Anyways, a few friends had requested for some vanilla malt cookies and loaves. Sorry some pics are a little blurry. Took them in a rush. Enjoy!

Aria's Full Moon

A good friend of mine just delivered, well not really "just" since it is the full moon celebration, a beautiful baby girl. Very posh name "Aria Laxmi Krishnan". So always a reason for celebration, crown shaped cookies for the office colleagues, cupcakes and more cookies for her nieces and nephews.
