Chocolate Pavlova

An official order for the luscious chocolate pavlova. Looks like an explosion but it is nice and light with a chewy centre. I love!

Safari!

After a long silence since I came back from Sri Lanka, I was swarmed with loads of cake to bake in one week. Thankfully I spaced them out nicely and it was not such a mad rush on Saturday. I had a friend who wanted some chic safari cupcakes so made shocking pink with zebra stripes and some leopard spots. Leopard spots would have been nicer small but hmmmm not bad I guess for a first try.....

Hantaran : Hat Cake

My final order before I leave for holiday.... specific instructions were given in terms of colour and design. I did add on a little to make the cake look a little more attractive. This was for a hantaran, hope the bride likes it! see you all next week!

Proud Gardener

one of the more unusual requests I have gotten so far. A friend of mind wanted to celebrate her husband's birthday with a cake depicting the beautiful garden that he has created in their home. She gave me pictures of the blossoming garden and I decided to try painting the plants onto the cake. I actually really like this cake. the butterflies are a special symbol for the couple.

Ballerina Girl

Ballerina themed birthday cake. Not the conventional I would think. The design of the ballerina, I improvised as I went along. HOpe the birthday girl likes it!

Travel

This was made in an incredible rush so the man is not perfect lah. I had made an earlier one but disaster struck when I placed him on the cake, he crumbled. So at the last minute I had to make a more "basic" looking human. This turned out quite nice though........ need to improve still...

Watch this space! Thanks:)

Pavlova the Professional Way

It is the best thing to have talented friends who can work the camera. Anyway, I realised that food look so much more appetising when professional shots are taken of them. A lovely picture ( even I am feeling mighty tempted) of a strawberry pavlova I made the other day. Thanks Choon Ean! lurve this!

Spinosaurous......... scary!

My friend's 5 year old son wanted a fierce Spinosaurous cake for his birthday. The dinosaur does look scary and I took a long time to decide was it this one or another one. He also added some "blood" to make it a little scarier. bring on the dinosaurs!

Stuffed Croissants

Was in charge of "wallop" for my cell group meeting tonight. Due to my hectic schedule, did not have the time to prepare something more elaborate so decided to just stuff some croissants with, beef salami, egg mayonnaise and tuna mayo. Was a hit! all the way to my friend's house in Sg.Buloh, the smell of buttery croissants were calling out to me!

Trying again

Have been into making pavlovas these days. Why one might ask? cause it does not involve waiting for butter to get to the right temperature, I love the taste and the egg yolks can be used to make custard for trifles. So one sunny afternoon, tried chocolate pavlova and a vanilla cherry trifle. Both can be improved but definitely good enough to eat!

Indulgence

Dark Cherry Chocolate Trifle

Strawberry Pavlova

Passionfruit Panna Cotta

We had department lunch today at the office and I was in charge of organising it. We bought the mains from a few places and I topped it all off with some new desserts that I experimented with last nite. Was glad that everything turned out the way it was supposed to with a few areas that I can improved on in the future. If I could say myself, the dessert was delicious indulgence!

Cupcakes for the office

So I was told that my colleague's little boy has been asking for some cuppies. Perfect reason to make a little more cupcakes and pass them over. Yes I know they are meant for a little boy and the colours look relatively girly but hey I think they look nice....(and I had extra pink icing)......

Silver and Pink Cupcakes

Love the colours. An order for pink and silver themed cupcakes. I did initially thought of taking the easy way out and bake those cuppies in silver foil cupcake holders but I ran out. Also, I was not going to run out to the shops to buy a stack of 100 silver cupcake holders for just 16 cupcakes. So we improvise. I had some silver dust and dusted the little flowers with those.

To be honest, I am always a little nervous when I am given only 2 colours to work with. Somehow there needs to be a balance, too few colours will render a boring and monotonous design ( unless it is just one design like a corporate cupcake, then it will look uniformed and neat), too many colours, hmmm the kiddies may like it but for adult cupcakes, a no-go, it will look very messy. So to give me enough "colour space" to work with, 3 - 4 colours is best and let me know which colours can dominate.

Rock Star II

Scary how fast time flies. Remembered making Noah's pirate cake last year and another year has come to bake this time a rock star themed cake with stars, notes, electric guitar and michael jackson's glove. Was told that the birthday boy was thrilled! A request for plain buttercream without colouring. This cake was fun to make

Happy Birthday Sara!

Sweet cupcakes for a little girl's 1 year old birthday. So sweet.......wouldn't mind having one of these for my own birthday.

Boys and Girls

Ben 10 chocolate cupcakes for the boys and little butterflies for the girls. I hope they like them, I certainly do. The fun feel definitely there.

ACE of Spades

The plan is to have an Alice in Wonderland tea party. A last minute request but managed to accomodate an ace of spades cake and some corresponding "card" themed cupcakes. Would have liked the red to be more prominent in the buttercream but decided to play it down abit as many know I am not a big big fan of garish, too much colouring type cakes unless it is absolutely necessary. Anyways, hope the party is a blast.

Drum Roll

Some birthday cuppies for an accomplished drummer. I had made some sugarpaste drums earlier on in preparation for this order. I had a feeling that they were a little too big for the cupcakes and looked a little overpowering. Hmmm did not follow my gut feeling and went ahead. When I placed the drums on the cupcakes, horrified, they looked like they were going to topple anytime. Thank God I had time to restart the modelling process again. These "new" drums - so cute!

Flamingo Cookies

Pink flamingoes for a birthday party. Love these! Admittedly a little tricky to make cause of their fragile necks and legs but these came out ooo so nice.

Farmville

Yes, I am a big fan of farmville on facebook. Admittedly my dedication to my farm has died down a little but I still maintain it.Had a friend's surprise party today, meant to be a farmville theme cake. It was to a certain extent, note the pink triangle on top of the sheep which means "click to collect wool", I made the lost lonely cow at the side and a golden chicken at the other side which I did not get a chance to take a picture of. Must say birthday boy was pretty happy with this:)

valentine's

Cupids flying, hearts visible everywhere. Moving away from too much pink and red, have made 2 sets of valentines cuppies with lots of fun and love. Hope the recipients like them.

Marbled Beauty

I went into baking mode yesterday evening with orders up for valentines and chinese new year loaves as well. In between beating eggs and sugar, I was watching Twilight again..... it is embarassing the number of times I have watched that movie. Am definitely an Edward Cullen fan. Hot hot hot!

Anyways back to baking, I had some extra butter cake batter and since I already made a butter blackcurrant cake yesterday, decided to make a simple marble cake which turned out to be fantastic. Moist and beautiful! Some pictures to entice eh....

Whimsical Teapots

I had less than 24 hours to complete this..... the cake turned out pretty decent I must say. The request was for a butter cake with a teapot theme. Love the pink teapot. Some angles of the cake....

LSE

Was asked to make a cake for the London School of Economics Anniversary party a couple of days ago. The logo is so simple and yet bold.
