Hantaran Orchids
A simple and elegant Hantaran Cake. I was asked to make it pink and white. Dusted some shimmer over the cake to give it the "glow" and extra "oomph". Am happy with it.

Pandan
I absolutely love the smell of pandan. It makes such a difference to so many Malaysian dishes and desserts. Almost a staple. So, I got my hands on some over the weekend and decided right away that I'd want to make a pandan coconut loaf for the office on Monday.
Extracting the pandan juice from the leaves were easy. As I was extracting, it brought back familiar smells of childhood, when my mum made coconut agar-agar for our birthdays. That.... just so comforting.
The cake turned out nice and moist. Personally I preferred it without the dessicated coconut topping. Just the cake on its own is good enough for me.

Blooms
Melting Moments
Apologies for the long silence as I had been away. An interesting time meeting up with uni mates and also checking out the political scene in Bangkok. Hmmm actually that was not exactly the purpose of our trip but simply to "unwind". Just got back and almost immediately started baking.
Going back to basics. I simply love these cookies and was glad I stumbled upon the perfect recipe. Buttery and tender.I remember eating these during chinese new year. Also not very often I like to you glace cherries but for these cookies, I make and exception.

Back to Basics
I had big dreams on making some swiss rolls for office today but I guess my tray was too small and the sponge was too thick to roll. So decided to make some simple cake slices ( actually not some, it came up to a lot of cake slices!) Chocolate sponge layered with raspberry cream and topped with strawberry. Nice and light. I am usually not a big fan of sponge cakes, but this time I went back to basics.....
