Selamat Hari Raya to all my Muslim friends. A good time of celebration, family, feasting.... for the rest of us smooth traffic! Anyways, a few friends had requested for some vanilla malt cookies and loaves. Sorry some pics are a little blurry. Took them in a rush. Enjoy!

Aria's Full Moon

A good friend of mine just delivered, well not really "just" since it is the full moon celebration, a beautiful baby girl. Very posh name "Aria Laxmi Krishnan". So always a reason for celebration, crown shaped cookies for the office colleagues, cupcakes and more cookies for her nieces and nephews.

Chocolate Portrait

This is why baking is so interesting. This time round a friend requested for a portrait of a real cat on top of the chocolate cake. I toyed with numerous ideas to design the cat. I know for sure ( through numerous disastrous attempts) that you can't have royal icing ( which is my usual material for design) will melt on this liquid chocolate coating on the cake and so will fondant. So timing was perfect that I bought the latest book by the same authors of the "Whimsical Bakehouse" and decided to cast the image on chocolate. It was quite tricky given that I do not have a chocolate warmer. But am happy with the results given it was my first time.
